Does your life have a price tag? I have been watching the “Occupy” demonstrations closely and much of what’s being said is quite interesting (to say the least). It matters not whether you or I agree or disagree; it’s simply a message that people are delivering that have some familiar sounds to them. Such as, does your life have a price? The scripture is clear that the price for your life (and mine) has already been paid. Paid in complete and we carry NO debt. Our debt was paid due to His great and awesome love for who we are. How are we paying the debt of others with our love? It’s just a thought (and a question)…perhaps only you can provide the answer?

Great Challenge!
Yesterday (Saturday) we at Central Church experienced a great community outreach in the Music Fest 2010! There was food, games, and music…but most of all, there was worship! The apostle Paul gave us some insight when he instructed us to “reach people in any possible way.” Let’s not miss opportunities that may seem “obscure” and look for “any way possible” to share the love of Christ with others!
I believe that the greatest moment of your life is this moment….right now. This tick of the clock…this beat of your heart.
The greatest moment of your life is NOW.
Not because it’s pleasant or happy or easy, but because this moment is the only moment you’ve got. My challenge is to live as though every moment counts and to enjoy the moment I have ….right now!
Mercy Me sings the song, “I Can Only Imagine.” ”I can only imagine, what it will be like…I can only imagine what my eyes will see, when your face is before me. Surrounded by your glory, what will my heart feel….will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still? Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall….will I sing hallelujah or be able to speak at all…I can only imagine!”
Maybe it’s time for you to contemplate what it might be like…can you imagine?
I suppose there are many places each of us could call “Paradise.” In my travels I’ve seen many of these kinds of places that God has created for my enjoyment. This picture is such a place I enjoyed for 25 years in Bradenton. Everyday I went to work at Public Safety, this was the view I had (out the conference room window) from the 5th floor of the County Administration Center. This week I sat outside and “contemplated” this view once again and realized how good God has been to me. He has created and given so much! Take some time and find one of the many “paradises” in your life and offer your gratitude. If you don’t make time, you’ll skip by these places and never see the amazing evidence of His work!
As I think about the things that seem to consume my mind, time, energy, and interests, I have to admit there are days it’s a battle to “cling” to the right things! If we really want to be honest with ourselves, we can all say (at times) that we cling to things that are not worthy of our time or attention…and in doing so, those “things” have the potential to draw us away from the very things that are important and valuable. The scriprture says in Romans (12:9) to “hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Psalms (63:8) expresses it a different way….. “my soul clings to you.” You see, we will “cling” to something! It’s simply imperative to make certain we are clinging to the things that set us free not hold us captive.
Why don’t we try doing as the old hymn writer wrote, “I will ‘cling’ to the old rugged cross.”
As I was looking through some recent pictures I shot at the (last) Buick Open this year, I came across this one. Early in the morning I arrived to see Tiger Woods tee-off on the 1st hole. Although there was much to grab my attention, this tree caught my eye before anything else. It was like the tree was being “washed” by nature as the dew fell off the tree and to the ground. I began to think about the various ways in which we can be “washed.” I have experienced this in the Gulf of Mexico (my old home) on many occasions as I let nature “wash” me in the ocean. I have hiked through the woods of Tennessee and been “washed” in a shallow creek and during a rain storm. I have been “washed” while tubing in the Ichetucknee River in North Florida and in a fast-moving river (tubing) in Georgia. The scripture refers to being “washed” (Acts 22:16) and in doing so, our sins will go away? Is it that easy? As easy (and as refreshing) as it was in the Gulf, the creek, the stream, the lake? I was baptised some years ago in the intercostal waterway (a fancy word for how 2 bodies of water connect…in this case, it connected to the Gulf). I remember feeling as though I was “washed” as I commited my whole life to God. Being “washed” (physically) is much like being “washed” (spiritually)…it removes the old dirt and makes us fresh. It feels so good after being cleaned! And being “washed” is available to everyone..regardless of who you are or what you’ve done. By the way, there are NO preliminary requirements in taking advantage of this “washing.” Just show up as you are and jump in! When’s the last time you have been “washed?”
Are You Surrendered?
Sometimes we forget to surrender. Sometimes we REFUSE. It can be (and often) is a condition of the “will.” Then our sense of guilt and inadequacy can cut us off from the current of God’s presence. I guess the hymn writer had it right when he wrote the song, “I Surrender All.” The problem we have is that we think this happens once in our lifetime…and it should occur daily! On the occasions when we have failed to surrender, then we must learn to surrender even our failure!
