Her name (fictitious) is Karen …she’s 35 years old…she has 2 children…she’s stricken with guilt and shame…she can’t provide…she’s hungry…her family never met her needs growing up…she’s been beaten by every man in her life…she “uses” to burn the pain away…she sells herself to anyone who will pay (to support her habit and put food on the table)…yet, she’s worthy!
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31: 8
The below words were written by my 17 yr old daughter, Ani, for a class project. Ani is a junior at Grand Blanc HS in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She has a heart for serving others and has participated in various local missions opportunities. She has built a church in the tribal village of Muxeye, South Africa, and will be traveling to Belize this summer to provide for the less fortunate. I love her heart…read her words:
Perspective
Judgmental eyes follow my every action.
I’m filled with loneliness, yet,
surrounded by many stares.
I can not reach other’s satisfaction;
There are few filled with compassion.
Wishing for a pillow other than the broken road,
I dream people would see me as one other than a poor Pariah.
I live in a world set on an unknown mode.
Children’s pointing fingers ask,
“Why is that man shoeless and dirty?”
I push away the unwanted judgement,
For they do not have the right to judge my life.
I seek for a splinter of hope,
as I look up to see the eyes of God shine through a young child say,
“I Care!”
Does your life have a price tag? I have been watching the “Occupy” demonstrations closely and much of what’s being said is quite interesting (to say the least). It matters not whether you or I agree or disagree; it’s simply a message that people are delivering that have some familiar sounds to them. Such as, does your life have a price? The scripture is clear that the price for your life (and mine) has already been paid. Paid in complete and we carry NO debt. Our debt was paid due to His great and awesome love for who we are. How are we paying the debt of others with our love? It’s just a thought (and a question)…perhaps only you can provide the answer?
Great Challenge!
Yesterday (Saturday) we at Central Church experienced a great community outreach in the Music Fest 2010! There was food, games, and music…but most of all, there was worship! The apostle Paul gave us some insight when he instructed us to “reach people in any possible way.” Let’s not miss opportunities that may seem “obscure” and look for “any way possible” to share the love of Christ with others!
I believe that the greatest moment of your life is this moment….right now. This tick of the clock…this beat of your heart.
The greatest moment of your life is NOW.
Not because it’s pleasant or happy or easy, but because this moment is the only moment you’ve got. My challenge is to live as though every moment counts and to enjoy the moment I have ….right now!
Mercy Me sings the song, “I Can Only Imagine.” ”I can only imagine, what it will be like…I can only imagine what my eyes will see, when your face is before me. Surrounded by your glory, what will my heart feel….will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still? Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall….will I sing hallelujah or be able to speak at all…I can only imagine!”
Maybe it’s time for you to contemplate what it might be like…can you imagine?
